the usual dilemma,

1D2 > too used/abused but affordable
1D2n > price too close to 1D3 relatively speaking since I already have budget for 1D3
1D3 > Dun feel like paying $6K++ for a cam halfway into it's product life cycle.. also D3 is coming soon. Again, expect competiton for heat up for this segment in the next year.

5D > gonna be replaced soon, no dust buster, not for sports/birding. one of the "cheaper" option using 5D for wedding and 30D for sports/birding..except the %@##$@ AF on the mentioned cams SUXXs.

D3 > need to spend $15K+ for a new system :sweat: really have to think very hard to maintain dual system.

Best still is to not know all this and be happy with what you have.

Cameras nowadays like PC like that - obsolescence is always a problem.

I don't really care about obsolecence... my 10D is still the best cam I hav... the main issue is that Canon isn't really improving on the XXD series. The truth is that 30D isn't filling my requirements any more than 10D.

Actually there is an option for D300, but not sure how is the AF performance even if they claim it's similar to D3... hope to find out on 20th. :lovegrin: Too bad can't got for the JBP outing, else sure can decide by then.

Realli praying Canon would come up with a pro AF on a 5D by Feb next year.

What to do? Its how canon segments the market with their various bodies. But the 30D/40D has come a long way compared to the 10D with the various metering options, buffer and shutter durability. 1 thing has stayed throughout though - the dodgy AF like you mentioned.

I also wished canon came out with a FF camera with 1 series AF with crop option when the demand calls forit.

The 40D's AF performance is still rather ...
