True ; but he is drunk. I doubt he can remember the driver's face though

If he can get on board a taxi on his own, he is not that drunk and if someone else put him on the taxi, that person should be able to to see at least the gender, estimate age or maybe the race.

Else ask Comfort to send message to all their drivers to mail the CF cards back to Tammy. Then case close. Ask them not to poke into returning the camera. I mean sending CF cards by mail will be easy or just drop into the letter box.

this incident clearly shows how important a backup(or engaging another photog) for your wedding is.

not true, too many cooks spoil the brooth. If you have engage the right photographer.

From the story, I believe (my own assumption) that the photographer is a friend of the couple who have finished his job after the wedding, and started drinking along with the last parties whom refuse to leave before drowning the couple.

After everyone is satisfied (2am), everyone made their way home and the friend of the couple, drunk (lock, stock & barrel) got wasted in the cab and hence the cab driver made his jackpopt with the equipment.

I feel extemely sorry for the couple. Its a very unpleasent incident. Hope time will heal some of the pain. The photog friend would have lost the wedding couple as a friend in this saga.

hope u get back the cards , but i do hope that the photographer will feel remoseful . i mean as a photographer u shouldnt drink on your day friend or client , u should show your professionlism . that a taboo for photographer during a big day

Absolutely agree. I have encountered countless times couples and their kakis wanted me to drink up after a hard day's work. As much as I would like to join them, I never oblige to their kind offering, as I know I still have a job to complete, and that is bring the gears back home safely and create a few copies of their photos in my hard disks!!!

I guess it's ok to have the odd drink. Everything within control. I believe A glass of wine won't smash a person (unless of cos that person can't drink for nuts, then he shouldn't be drinking at all).

But to get sloshed if you're the photographer................... :nono:

But as you know, one may get carried away, or the other party feels that 1 is just now enough. So to be safe, I'd rather not drink.

Jeanie, how wrong can you be. Even with a back up photogrpaher, are you saying that both phtogrpaher will have to shoot all identical shots?

The key is to hire a respectable and reputable photogrpaher. Apparently, the wedding couple here did not do so and is paying for the consequence.

my idea of backup photog means you engage one to shoot from another angles.
angles which the main photog will not cover.

best scenario is these 2 photogs are from the same company, so there wont be any 'conflicts'.

i did that(planning) for my friends weddings.and they are happy they end up with 2 sets of photographs for their AD(actual day).

so if one loses his shots(for whatever hell reasons), you still have the other.
better than now in this situation, you get NONE.

of course, paying for 2 photogs might not be an option for alot os couples.

DP, there's no right, no wrong in this situation.
just like your comments in P&P.
some deem them right, some shoot you like a dead duck.
:sticktong

Just curious, since photographer engaged by Bridal studio, do the couple have any legal case to get any compensation regarding "loss of photos"

There would be a clause inside the LOA between the customer and the studio to prevent getting into lawsuits, just like photolabs will always disclaim responsibility if they damage your media during processing. They will reimburse you in a different manner as they deem fit.

Anyway, no point pointing fingers or asking for money, the images are lost regardless. Nothing can do to bring them back unless the culprit brings it back.

yupyupyup.
no amount of $ can compensate the lost of the memories.

ya, quite strange. if taxi driver is pissed off w the client, the usual practice is for the driver to ask for compensation from the customer to wash the taxi. it was reported sometime ago in the papers that it is common practice for the company's drivers to ask for $50 as fees for washing the taxi. can be quite disgusting indeed.

but making away w the camera equipment is something very strange indeed!
i even suspect if photographer's story is to be believed at the beginning... why is the job of chasing for the images rest on the client/couple?
shouldn't he/she be the one posting for assistance?

Why did the taxi driver just drive off like that?

Because he wants to take the camera equipment and sell it off for a profit.

I lost a small HP Palm top in a taxi once. When I called the taxi HQ, they radio called all taxis and the taxi driver refused to answer.

Yes.
They can sue.

It will destroy the photographer because he has no case to defend.
If they sue for $100,000. How to put a price to memory?
On top of that he has to pay costs of the law suit. Which can be another $100,000? Dunno.... what if they get Davinder then costly.

Then his rep will be so bad as the law suit will make the whole world know.
No more business.

The couple should not get Mr. Hanam.
Then $60 matter may become a $150,000 legal bill.

But I think they are on good terms with the photog, so he will get off this without a scratch...

Maybe, just maybe the photographer shot without CF cards throughout the Dinner. Den realise so made up the story to cover his A$$. :dunno:

Or on the brighter side, the CF cards may be on the way to the letterbox liao.
