Singapore Purchases, GST + the traveller

Hi,

was wondering about the tax/refund system - My associate here in australia is travelling to Singapore and I was hoping to get him to pick up a camera for me. So will we get a better price then? eg. Purchase item, claim tax back duty free? Looking to pick up a D-LUX3.

Anyhow, any info if you guys can help would be great.

Even with out any Tax issues, camera's are sufficiently cheaper in Singapore to make it worth it...

At any rate, the last two camera related purchases I made in Singapore were tax free at the store - they issued an invoice that said 'tax free', so there was nothing to 'claim back' at departure. I never checked to see how legal that practice was. (It's certainly NOT in Australia, except at certain 'specially marked tourist traps'.
