it the tool that matter not the brand and not the name.....competitor is offer similar but better product at around the same price.....love or no love..it the money that inside yr wallet/ bank acc they(sony) love
Ha. I could say the same about Nikon or Sony, IIRC they are the only company -now- without a DSLR with in-body IS. Too busy counting the money from all their IS lenses?

What particular type of product are you talking about anyways? I look at their P&S, quite comparable, I look at their Alpha-100, also comparable. I only never look at lenses and all the other rojak items.

Easy to say, not easy to back up.

ya.., from what i notice in the market this days....lots of brands are making names for themselves by producing great cameras...theres are so many to choose from...but some prices are still a little bit over priced in SG..... H2 cost how much by the way? tx
$650 thereabouts brand new a while back. Was equivalent to S3 IS and cheaper than Fuji 6500fd then. :dunno: So yeah, Sony really wants your money!

bro go for H9....the H5 high iso already trash the D200.. D9 should be much better

ho... seldom get to touch those, wanta go try?

At the cost of a very slow and laggy EVF, which I experienced personally when I tried it out, and of course, no IS, shooting telephoto handheld should be quite fun.

Had a real bad encounter with the 56M flash. I had the unit for less than 6months and it died on me totally!!!!!!!!! It was fried!!! I was using oxyride batts for my shoot and i was doing continuous shooting for about 50 frames when i finished a pack of oxyride batts. Since my office do not have a store selling the oxybatts i got my assistant to run n get me a pack of regular alkaline ones. after 3 frames the flash just died and the batts burst. I rushed down to sony to fix it straight away and they said its not feasable to fix it. WTF 600bucks for something not realiable? im so pissed cuz the service staff were cocky n brash. They said i had left the batteries in the flash and it leak, wow its just like not wearing a condom when u have sex! Of course i would take out the batts after im done with the flash.

When u fix your flash or service them its catagorized as accessories and warranty on them is ...................... for sony to decide if its under warranty. Guess thats y people always say its a sony. i was using my nikon speed light flash and its able to withstand the workrate but my sony flash just gave up? Now i gotta buy another flash for my cam and im gonna get the ext power supply. Wow!!! Fed up with sony crap and gonna get the sigma one. Hopefully it doesnt die on me again. Just beware about the workrate and the type of batteries u use. And of course read the fine lines in you camera warranty card u will be suprised about the stuff you would find.

Well always remember when your equipment pops...............the tag line is......ITS A SONY!

Hi Gootzooty,

Sorry to hear about the encounter you have. I guess the probelm lies with the batteries not the flash. I personally work intensively on batteries ans all I can say is battery leakage can occur very easily especially if the batteries are put to extremes that does not match its intended usage - in terms of its current drainage.

You used the Oxyide (Duracell Pix?) and got about 500shots already and it clearly shows that that the battery leaked using the normal alkaline resulted in the leaky mess.

One of causes of battery leaks in one time use batteries is actually heat (expansion of canister) that induced the safety mechanism of a battery to allow it to leak instead of explode.

I have seen sizzling batteries in some tests. Leaking electrolyte (which is conductive) normally results in system shorts as its basically fluid and can travel and blott into crevices on PCBAs that will deem too costly for cleaning - usually you will replace the boards altogether. These electrolyte can even seep in through a insulated wires (FYI).

So my advice - use the appropriate batteries. For high Drain batteries, go for the NiMh or the single use high drain batteries - those touting better than normal alkaline types...

So before i forget. Please do refrain for ranting in such a first post as this is not a good net-tiquette.

I ever used my flash to shoot some few hundred shots for an event using some alkaline batteries and when the batteries gone flat and I wanted to change to a new pack, I realised that the used batteries were so hot that i can barely hold them in my palm. Luckily it didn't fry my flash. Now I only use the Sanyo NiMh type. I don't think that the problem is on the flash but rather the batteries used too.

that's why i modded an ext pack using sealed lead acid batt 6V3A. gets to over 1000 shots before the battery goes flat. its never hot, and there's no risk of an exploding batt in the batt chamber because the "batts" are actually inserts (dummy batts). so far no issues on my km5600 or 5400 after a few thousand shots each.
