mine came with a 15 months warranty as well... off cause...when talk about warranty... it doesnt cover any abuse or misuse of the unit. They (sony) got to cover thier own interest too what. Just like if u buy a mobile phone and u bring it to swimming pool then later bring it back for the dealer to exchange it...

I believe the term and condition is written clearly on the warranty card... not only sony will do that .. i am sure N n C will do the same as well... :dunno:

yup. u r rite. battery leak is usually caused by batteries and the only way to claim damages as such is to sue the battery manufacturer unless u can prove the flash drawing abnormal current

well if energizer batts blow in usage if i'm not wrong can claim from the batt company? i think can read from the back of the pack.

cheap batts under heavy current drain will be brewing for trouble.. :D

not too sure abt that...but in America, it is easier to sue there.... here, i think u can only claim against their product liability if there is defects in the batt (which is quite hard to prove i guess).

anyway, yah...never use cheap batts for expensive stuff. at least reputable batts have reputations to protect so they invest in good QA (not to mention good PR and good litigation lawyers) but they also have good product disclaimer clauses (however, the Sale Of Goods Act and CASE can give good firepower to us, consumers...)

Use only the rechargable ones, do not use alkaline ones. There was once, I was using Alkaline batteries and shooting continuously for about 1.5 hours. After an hour or so, the batteries in my flash was so hot that i could hardly hold them with my hands. Luckily, it did not fried my flash. From then onwards, I only use rechargable ones.

wah.... like that really risk of fire on the flash unit.... like taking photo halfway then the flash unit on fire... ..light up the whole place...so no need to use flash anymore...

moral of the story..uses only reputable rechargable batt...
