At 20 inches, it gives a slightly better than 1:2 macro. The focusing is fantastic, you have to turn around 540 from infinite to 1:2 macro.Great for insects macro. Great lens for insects, because 135mm give you proper distance.
I love the lens, but I got too many macro lens....
This is a legend lens and one of the best lens vivitar has made, google it find out more.
