pentax makes lots of other stuff in addition to cameras.

the main money-spinner is not DSLRs or telescopes but medical equipment.

this is one of the main reason that Hoya bought over pentax in the first place (only have to glance at their balance sheet to see the importance of their medical business in contributing to the bottom line).

the cameras, well... its a "by the way" thing.
