most fast zoom lenses have good bokeh..... it's up to the photog to make it extraordinary imho...

for technical comparison in terms of bokeh or smooth out-of-focus rendition, minolta's 135mm STF is unmatched(IMO) from the various tests i've seen be it friend's tests or web posts....

cheers....

I'd disagree. No photographer can make up for harsh, concave bokeh. That's up to the lens.

Yup... Minolta's 135mm STF, 85mm f/1.4 G and the 70-200 f/2.8 G SSM have ridiculously good bokeh.

yes, definitely the 70-200 f2.8
the depth of field can be so little, it's 'dangerous' to shoot 200mm at f2.8 ;) any focusing problem of the lens is very apparent.

200mm at f2.8 for a subject 1.5m away wil result in a depth of field of approximately 0.5cm.
