Err... why is there a need to put the amount of $700 when all in all... the choice is between 2 lens.

Personally... preferred the Tamron for its constant aperture...

Because there will be some (believe me) who prefer none of these 2 options and recommend something else which may cost more.
It's my way of indicating "please please nothing else except any of these 2, yea I know there are better ones out there, then of cause they may cost more".

depends if you are ever getting an ultra wide like 10-20 in which case i recommend the 28-75 2.8 instead.

probably depends on your needs? the tamron is said to be really sharp but the sigma offers a very comfortable range, the pictures are really decent too. =)
