Hi all

Like to see a show of hands which type of support you use for insect macro.

Cheers

Hand held and upright, upside down, leopard crawl, bear crawl, horse stance, legs wide open also got.

Hand held and I've never tried leopard crawl when shooting insect macros before...:bsmilie:

shorter focal length macro lenses, I handheld for shooting cos its easier.

Longer focal lengths like A200 macro , I usually use a monopod or tripod for support, cos the lens itself is heavy and with the flash, wow......

otc

Normally it depends on the subject. Most of the time, the subject do not wait for you to setup the tripod and start posing. Locate, compse and shoot. If never fly/run away, I'll try to get a few more exposures for good measures.

if i have a choice, i would want a gitzo tripod with a really right stuff head to go along with a long lens mount. but if i am limited with $$, then i'd go for a sturdy one, which ever the choice may be. and it would be nice if the tripod can go low, perfable with one without a centre column.
my 2 cents.
