I've recently bought the 50D together with Kit lens. After more than 1 month, I am beginning to feel restless and am considering getting another lens.

Please give me some advise and/or suggestions? Feeling very lost...

Why will you feel restless? What is lacking after you have used your kit lens? It is difficult to guess your preference as to whether to recommending a wide angle or telephoto lens just base on your question above.

Restless coz I felt that the kit lens is too limited. I think I'm leaning more towards a telephoto lens for my 2nd...

If you felt limited because of the focal length, then perhaps you can look at 55-250mm f/4.5-5.6 (cheaper) or 70-200mm f/4 or f/2.8 with/without IS(4 lenses in this range - all "L" lenses).

If you felt limited because of the quality of the image, then perhaps you can look at the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS lens.

70-200 f2.8 IS..;)

55-250mm as compared to 18-200mm, which is more useful?

Aiming for 70-200mm f2.8 but it's nearly $3k so gotta save up first. ;p Plus it's super heavy... Haha!

So far, I'm still pretty happy with the image quality.

I have no experience with 18-200mm so can't comment on the IQ but it is definitely a good walkaround lens since it covers from wide to tele in one lens.

55-250mm is definitely a good lens considering the price.

Yeah, it is good that you are aware of the super heavy 70-200 f2.8 IS. One key reason with people spent so much buying it but not using it often enough. :bsmilie:

Only you can give the answer, we don't know what is useful to you and your shooting style.
55-250 compliments your kit lens, 18-200 replaces the kit lens - in terms of focal length. Read up on reviews about parameters and performance. Some people prefer 18-200 as travel lens. Both have drawbacks in terms of maximum aperture. That's where dedicated lenses for certain ranges are better, they offer constant aperture of f/2.8 or f/4.

this one

Seems like you're the casual shooter, trigger happy person. If so... just get 18-200. I reckon you'd want convenience over anything.

Every lens is useful, depend on what you need and what you shoot

Yes I would have to agree. the 17-55mm f/2.8 IS is miles from the kit. I recently got that lens with my 50D and don't regret it! I am also looking to get the 70-200 f2.8 non-is =D

Sorry for being noob but what lens is this!?
EF 200mm f2L IS USM. The stuff of many Canonites' wet dreams here. :sweatsm:

Limited in what way? Pls elaborate further.

I have the 55-250mm f/4.5-5.6 but I feel it could be better .. maybe the latest tamron 18-270mm I am considering.
