For me, it used to be the EF 28-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM until I passed it to my bro since I have 3 shaper lenses that cover the range...the only downside is that I've to change the lenses, depending on situations...

Perfect for event photog (I do a lot) and very very sharp. The best zoom Ive used second to the 70-200/2.8 IS. Its much faster to AF compare to my old Nikkor AF-D 80-200/2.8 on my F90x.

I would have to say me fav lens that I have now is the Canon EF-S 55-250mm. Cheap and good

I have used it for the F1 night race, most of my landscape and candid shots. I really have tried using my kit and 50mm F/1.8 but seem to somehow still end up using the 55-250mm. I suppose I just like to have a little distance between myself and my subjects

You guys never looked at the date the original TS posted the thread? Almost 6 years ago....and the 24-105mm f4L IS only appeared in late 2005 (IIRC). Someone just dug up this ancient thread (heaven knows for what purpose).
