What to look for when buying a tripod?

hmm.. my 2.4kg is based on the original manfrotto bag and wearing the sling on a single shoulder. with a better strap and different ways of carrying, u may be able to take more load. but 4kg+ is still too much la.

Try an 8.75kg tripod/ball head for a few miles over your shoulder, or on a strap .. it's not difficult nor painful.

I use the G2228 explorer tripod made by Gitzo.

They tend to be a little pricy, but I can honestly tell you it's the best tripod I've used http://www.gitzo.com/
