Can anyone explain this statement?

"The Nikon DX 18-105mm VR has a 5.8x range that’s equivalent to 27-158mm."

In the 4th paragraph.

18-105mm is a 5.8x zoom lens, and since it is made for DX (1.5x crop factor) bodies, the equivalent 35mm field of view is 27-158mm.
