Wedding Setup

To each their own, have their unique shooting style, i personally felt.

Indiviual preference varies, What matter most that you must be comfortable and confident with your setup and not to screw up big time on tt impt day of your client. :)

Still picking up the ropes, relish the opportunity to practice more ( as back up photographer).

My choice of gear will be :-

1. D700 + grip + 24-70mm f2.8 + SB900 on flash bracket with GF LightSphere Cloud
(Primary, group, candid, etc)

2. D300/D300s + 50mm f1.4D (for low light and bokeh)

3.70-200 vrf2.8 for candids (think only useful for wedding in open space outdoors)

4. 105mm f2.8 for closeup of wedding related items with sentimental value (like wedding bands, bride's heels etc..)

Lots of extra juice (enelops) for your flash and body, extra cf cards, rechardeable pack for ur flash, extra SB600 or SB800.

Think Tank Belt System with modules, lens changer etc.

haven't try yet, but think on paper should provide adequate coverage..

if its me, i will use the D300 as the primary, and D700 as the backup with a 50mm. I am much more willing to bump up the ISO on the D700 then the D300. Any camera can shoot at ISO 400 with flash. Not all cameras can shoot at ISO1600 with minimal noise.

70-200, maybe outdoors. but candid? especially without flash? den on a FX body will be more likely. and most of the time i find it too tight. 50mm is sufficient. small and light, instant response.

my 17-55mm can do the job on sentimental shots too...

I would prefer a lighter setup like 2 x D90 instead of a D300/s or D700.

1. D90 + grip: 50mm 1.4/1.8 or 85mm 1.4 for half body to head and shoulder shots
2. D90 w/o grip: 10-24mm for wide and group/table shots.

or on lazy days:

1. D90 + grip: 35 1.8 for half body shots (low light)
2. D90 w/o grip: 18-105mm for one for all in one shots.

Both setup with SB800.

1. D90 with AFD 50mm 1.8 or 1.4 and 18-105 VR Kit Lens, SB-800/900.

i prefer for AFD 50mm 1.4 = 75mm for only can shoot the head and shoulder,
cause in SG HDB flat master bedroom is space limit for you want to backward few step,
if the room have many ppl inside, so you just have chance to stand outside the door to shoot, so it 50mm prime lens is very usefull for DX body.

2. Body D40 to D5k and SB-600 for spare.
if you wanna shoot like full & half body
so just get the 35mm f1.8 DX Prime lens.
it's very nice lens and cheaper price to compared by other FX lens.

if you only own the D40,60 and latest model D3k , D5k it's compatible with AFS motor.
for next time when you upgrade to Pro DX bodies still can used for future. :bsmilie:
