The AF is slow, but the image quality is :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:
If (1) the bird is stationary and (2) u can get close to the bird i.e. less than 10metres away --> guaranteed super super ultra nice bird shots!

The 80-400vr is a piece of gem if (i) u use it correctly & (ii) use it to shoot the right subject i.e. stationary subjects & (iii) you are near to the birds.
