Hi to all the senior here in cs... I recently got a 80-400vr. Trying my lucks on birdie... CnC welcome..

All shots taken handheld with D50.

ah chua, how are you? nice shots you got here... was thinkin of getting this lens but as i've read AF is a bit on the slow side, since you've got it, might as well ask you how it really is.:)

Yes u are rite.. AF not as good as the AFS.. But usually I set the lens to limit so it wont go all the way back and front. So AF will be a bit faster... :)

Well I onli got this lens about a week but all i can say its a good sharp lens, bokeh is also ver swee...:sweatsm:

The AF is slow, but the image quality is :thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup::thumbsup:

If (1) the bird is stationary and (2) u can get close to the bird i.e. less than 10metres away --> guaranteed super super ultra nice bird shots!

The 80-400vr is a piece of gem if (i) u use it correctly & (ii) use it to shoot the right subject i.e. stationary subjects & (iii) you are near to the birds.
