Dear Secondary School/JC/Poly Students,

VJC-CANON PHOTOGRAPHY EXPOSÉ II 2009

Greetings! Following the success of the inaugural VJC-Canon Photography Exposé last year, it gives me great pleasure to inform you that the VJC Photography Society and Canon Singapore will be organizing Exposé II. This will be held on Saturday, 28th March, from 0830h to 1230h at Victoria Junior College.

I am pleased to extend an invitation to your College's / School's student photographers and media club members to join us for both the EOS Seminar as well as the EOS Experience which promises to be even bigger than before!

The EOS Seminar

Participants will get to hear from three speakers who are well-known local photographers and photography enthusiasts – Mr Francis Lee, Dr Leslie Tay and Mr Jino Lee. They will cover topics relevant to student photographers, namely Action, Food and Travel Photography respectively. There will also be a display of the speakers’ photos.

Participants are encouraged to interact more with the speakers during the EOS Experience segment and tap on their expertise at the relevant stations for sports and macro photography especially.

Guest Speakers’ Profiles

• Mr. Francis Lee
Topic: Action Photography

Mr Francis Lee is a prolific photographer among fellow Singaporean photographers and he has received a certificate in Professional Photography from the New York Institute of Photography. With more than 15 years of experience in professional photography, Mr Lee has been active in the photojournalist scene, which can be seen from his portfolio. Mr Lee is a former full-time photographer with Today and The New Paper, and now currently works as a freelance photographer for both newspapers. He is also an endorsed photographer by The National Arts Council and provides photography trainings for AEP students.

• Dr. Leslie Tay
Topic: Food Photography

Dr Leslie Tay is a practising Resident Family doctor with Karri Family Clinic and also a photography enthusiast. Dr Tay is famous for his food blog -- namely “ieat.ishoot.ipost” and has taken many photographs of tantalizing dishes all around Singapore. His works create awareness of local hawker centres and provides insight on their lives. Dr Tay’s site is so popular that it averages 8000 hits per day and has an active forum that discusses food and this popularity can be attributed to his great photography skills.

• Mr. Jino Lee
Topic: Travel Photography
Mr Jino Lee is a Resident Photographer and a trainer of Canon Singapore. Mr Lee has done a wide spectrum of photography, ranging from travel photography to wedding photography. Currently, Mr Lee spends the majority of his time shooting travel photography, while conducting photography lessons for Canon’s customers and school students in Singapore. Mr Lee’s travel photography experience is widely known in Singapore and he has conducted popular overseas photography workshops under Canon Singapore.

The EOS Experience

With the event opened only to registered students and teachers, participants will have plenty of opportunities to handle the wide range of Canon's famed EOS digital SLRs and professional lenses during the Canon EOS Experience segment. They can use the equipment and try their hand at shooting different types of photography at various stations with instructors on hand to guide them.

Participants may bring their own Canon EOS digital SLRs to try them with Canon’s professional lenses.

There will also be a Printer Station, where participants can try out Canon’s photo printers. Each participant is entitled to one free A4-sized print! They may bring their own image file in either their CF or SD cards or print a photo they shoot on the day.

Canon Singapore is also happy to provide a free cleaning service for participants who bring their own Canon EOS digital SLRs.

All participants will be given a Canon goodie bag.

Registration is free of charge (please register as a school) … but places are limited and will be given on a first-come-first-served basis! The closing date for registration is Friday, 20th March 2009.

Thank you. For contact enquiries, please email axel9221@gmail.com for more information. This event is open to schools only.

Sincerely,
