Vivitar 285HV Flash for Olympus EPL2 camera?

Hi there,

Have anyone tried using the Vivitar 285HV flash with Olympus EPL2 camera?

I have one but am afraid to use them as some site claim that the triggering voltage will fry the camera?

I think it might be on the edge of not safe...depends on when it was made and which version you have...I would just get a cheap modern flash for the camera and use the Vivitar as an off camera strobe (with a pair of Cactus v5 or other triggers...)

Thanks for yr advice George, I have measured the voltage across the terminals & found to be 8.5VDC
Anyway, will not use it on the camera hotshoe, just purchased a remote wireless trigger I think it is safer, thanks again. Cheers
