Have to be awfully close to the action otherwise the audio will need a lot of scrubbing to get rid of noise. They should have put a ex mic jack.

Got my hands on a 5DM2, I was unable to use the AF during video taking... but you have to press a button to do it... Well at least it can AF.... ;)

Which digital camera are you using to take video?
None till these cameras actually start to blur the lines of camcorder and camera. A lot of people are okay with having good video but i am probably one of the minority that actually wants good audio as well so i still use a camcorder.

here is a 2 year Xacti 700HD recorded using SD...compare the audio (is it me or a lot of the video-able cameras on youtube actually dont have the recording with default audio)

Compared to a camera...its not very good at taking stills, cannot change lens, cannot use the various camera gadgets and so on. But in taking video, its pretty good at its job. Thats why i dont mind carrying both a camera and a camcorder with me. besides, if the video-able DSLR got problem...you lose the capability to take both Video and Stills. the xacti was using the default mic.

I just cant figure out why no external mic for these video-able cameras especially ones that cost 4 figures.

That great... at least you dun have a 4GB file limit like most digital camera have while taking video... :)

Yes, but for HD format, you are allowed to take only 15mins of the time. But other sizes, it varies with amount of space in yr card. I use a 4GB SDHC card, shouldn't be a problem

I wonder if a 15min clip is possible using a Canon S3? Anybody tried that before ?

why not, if i wanna take video. but i prefer photos lah, old school a bit ;p
