even if its for purchase (the f22), Sg is not likely to get it. its too expensive for us to buy enough to form a fleet.
 

The F-22 is really not necessary, at least for the region (tech overkill).

Another thing is that without the proper technology transfer, it is nigh impossible for Singapore to maintain them 5th generation stealth aircraft.

Now, before someone mentions about the F-35, the export version of the Lightning II will be dumbed down in the stealth department. Even so, it will be about 2025 or so before the F-35 will be operational here (if ever).

Actually, what's more important is pilot proficiency - case in point, instructors at Top Gun flying F-5s "gun" down trainee pilots flying F/A-18s will alarming regularity.

So buying gear and stiffing on training will just mean more expensive equipment losses (very much like photography if you ask me! :bsmilie:).
