May I suggest a photo contest based on MACRO photography.
It's been a long time..... most are events, scenery and people and underwater.
Not just macro insect.... can be non-living things too.

What u all think?

i wanna join! been a long time since i joined one..

i agree that cash prizes would be the best option. it really gives the user the freedom to choose what he/she wants to buy.

If it was like an entry DSLR, i would put it on the B&S here cos i already got my own. unless its a 1DsMkIII. LOL.

A 1k voucher from Harvey Norman or Best Electronic might be better crowd puller than a camera shop... Prob have it in denominations of $50 so the winner's family can use it to purchase also.

Else a Scenic tour for 2 to take pictures in say... Korea? Japan? :vhappy: or any country within ur budget... just some ideas

I did give my bosses those ideas... but they are just too against it :cry:

Know how you guys feel about another entry dslr... but look at it this way... win the competition, sell the camera and use the money to go for a trip or buy other stuff??

the competition will be free entry anyway plus there will be a lucky draw just for saying "BIG thank you" for entering (lucky draw prizes should be 2 ipod nano 4gb , managed to psycho them for this)

Gathering from what you said, it seems like to enter the competition, the photographer has to gather at a certain place and shoot there for instant submittion....not those where photographers can just submit their photos right?

BIG Hint. Its just a general theme (Theme: its the scenes around wilkie road/selegie road, so can start early ya ). And yes, the photos can be taken first and submitted later but there will be closing date.

Am getting approval for the posters to be done up. Management slow sometimes la.. wat to do... Will ensure that you guys will have enough time to get some great pics in

BTW, if your company wants to attract more (better) photographers for the competition, then I suggest that the rule will not include clause like "All entries are deemed to be the property of the organizer". It would appear like a cheap way for the company to obtain photos and that will put off many good photographers.

Just my 2-cents worth.

Hmmmm.....So I'm guessing that if the company says that it has the right to use the pictures for its own advertising, etc, its alright as long as the photographer can use his/ her pictures for his/ her own purposes?

a 8GB CF card for the 4 and 5th places?

no age limit, u can do what u want to the photo.

BTW, I saw the part of the rules saying:

· Theme of the competition is “Scenes around WE Corner”.
· Photographs are to highlight the interesting sights around WE
Corner/Selegie/Bencoolen Street. Examples would be a person, building or
an item.

I am quite keen to know the definition of "around WE Corner", must the WE Corner build be part of the photo? Or can I go as fas as Mount Sophia and shoot?
