We are very short handed that there is absolutely no traffic police available during peak hours to control traffic. But you see them at places you don't need them. Haha

Very often when you are caught in a jam, you think there must be some happening upfront. When you eventually cross the 'bottle neck' actually nothing happening. It is just some slowing down and motorists slow in picking up speed to close the gaps. Most times it is due to heavy vehicles and that hog the whole lane behind them. Worst when they occupy the putter lane.

Station some officers at the regular 'bottle neck' during peAk hours and see the traffic improves. Not everything can work by remote control.

They should have special emergency U-turn barriers on the expressways. This will increase routing options.

1) idiot drivers who cut from Lane 1 to Lane 3/4 to exit the expressway at the last minute.

2) the massive amount of tailgaters who travel so close to the vehicle in front that they have to keep braking. this causes a chain effect for all those cars behind.

3) drivers forcing their way into the space between 2 cars when filtering lanes. they don't even bother to check if it's safe or not, or whether the space is enough to fit their cars. this also causes the driver behind to brake and the chain effect follows.

4) now that the PIE/CTE extensions are underway, i noticed that a lot of drivers tend to slow down to watch the construction, leading to slower traffic.

your point on "closing the gap" makes no sense because that doesn't slow down traffic unless the car at the back hits the car in front.

and most of the time, the heavy vehicles keep to the last lane on the expressway. unless you're a driver who keeps to the last lane all the time, then it's just you.

Quite obviously we don't see this the same way . I drive daily along aye and the same 'bottle necks' which are not necessary.

In my opinion, the heavy vehicles are one of the main cause as they are slower to pick up speed thus delay to total travel time. Then of course you ave the filter lanes where people need to travel on the outer lane before cutting back in so that they don't have to be queuing behind the jams. Not correct but it adds up the jam.

Bottom line. If there are better traffic controls, situation will improve.

If you have a serious motor accident in Malaysia along the highway. Your chances of dying from your injuries or bleeding to death because the ambulance took its own rubber time to arrive (even when there is no traffic jam) is very high.
