Tips for successful panoramic pictures?

Hi guys, I'm back with a problem. I'm using a sony DSC-S85, a few days ago I took 10 pictures panning an angle of appoximately 90 degrees
(the first pic is taken horizontally perpendicular to the last pic) I used an old tripod for the job, set aperature, shutter, iso and focus to manual.
None of the settings were altered during the shoot.

Yet, I still notice that some parts of my final panorama had 'seperations' (as if the exposures were of different settings) and the stiching is horrible!

I'm using photoshop CS's photomerge to stitch the pics together.

Why does this happen?

Why does this happen?

It's likely to be secondary to vignetting or light fall off from your lens. Stopping down the aperture may help. Otherwise, your stitching program needs to compensate for it either by adjusting the radial luminence or do a smoother blending.
