I m planning a trip to Tibet , backpacking and trekking trip lasting about 3 weeks. Just wondering if anyone has gone on the 18 day or 22 day trips with BOAC Online b4?
Or know of any reliable local tour agencies in Lhasa or Kathmandu which provide 3 week backpacking trips for Tibet?

Hmmmm just did some search online and it seems more worth it (cheaper by quite few hundreds with a longer duration itinerary) to book packages instead from the local tour agencies. This is one recommended by people from Loney Planet forums.

i used these guys... http://www.tibet-tour.com/route/ . it's easier to get things fixed up with the official tour agencies, since there're travel permit requirements from the chinese government - of course, it costs more. 12 days cost about 2k+. flew in through chengdu to lhasa, down south (gyantse, shigatse) by 4x4, crossed the nepal border to kathmandu on day 10, flew back from there. trekking's going to be tough going: i got hit the first 3 days by extreme altitude sickness, was on a liquid drip...

Thanks Scanner. I have been reading up on Lonely Planet and Virtual Tourist too. I think I saw your pics on Tibet b4? Mind sharing your itinerary and cost layout if possible?

Maybe you saw my photo before, as a group of us did a photo exhibition this year March.
As for the cost, it will depends on season, during off peak season the accomodation and will transport will cost less.

Currently I don't have any information at hand now, as I'm now at overseas.
You might want to drop Simon a mail. :)

Might not be joining the same group but just to use some of their great itineraries as reference.1 of the forum members here did warn me that Kailash has very harsh conditions.

I believe this is the more popular routes taken.
