While the global news community shifted its focus to Operation Odyssey Dawn in Libya, we have barely recovered from the devastating 9 magnitude earthquake and resulting tsunami in Japan. Two weeks may seem a long time to a 24 hour news networks but the long road to recovery has just begun. With over tens of thousands reported dead and missing and a looming nuclear radiation threat, our aid could not be more timely.

As we watch the tragic events that continue to unfold, you might be left thinking, “Is there any way I can help?”

Clubsnap, Singapore's largest online photography community, believes that hope and community spirit will triumph amidst the devastation. Hence we will embark on an unprecedented Singapore street portraiture quest, namely 'Ganbatte Japan'. Our volunteers will roam the streets to photograph donors carrying signs of encouragement for the Japanese people. Our aim, to raise thirty thousand dollars through a medium we know and love – photography.

Your compassion will be captured in our 'Ganbatte Japan - Wishes from Singapore' Facebook project page. For every donation of ten dollars or more, you will receive a complimentary 4R photo print.

It’s important to note that your contributions will go directly to Mercy Relief's Japan Quake and Tsunami Relief Fund. Every dollar donated will be used to address the most pressing basic needs including food, water, blankets and other essentials which will be procured on the ground for now.

Many photographers share a special bond with Japan, even if they’ve never visited the land of the rising sun. Its innovation and technological advancements have shaped our creative devices, enriching our interpretation and understanding of the world.

Please join us now in helping the Japanese people during this great time of need. Together we can make a difference. Together we will make a difference.

From the team at Clubsnap and our generous sponsors Far East Organisation, Nikon Singapore and Noritsu.

The events will be held from
Saturday 1100 - 2000
Sunday 1100 - 1800

Locations for the various weeks
Week 1 (26/03 - 27/03): Far East Plaza and Pacific Plaza
Week 2 (02/04 - 03/04): Orchard Central
