Hi,

I spoke to Leslie of John 3:16 about the random practice of RGB stapling the last frame of slides. Apparently, it happens most to people who shoot all the way to the end (i.e. 38 exposures) like me.

According to him, what happened is that RGB uses the "dip and dunk" system of developing slides (as opposed to the roll system some labs use). A clip is attached to the start and the end of the film. If the 38th frame is too close to the edge, it might kena the clip. The holes apparently looks quite like staple holes.

Of course, being a pro lab, that is still not a valid excuse. But at least we now know the possible reason. So if you want to send stuff to RGB, make sure there's nothing on the last frame.

Regards
CK
