the trouble with this is, opinion within the scientific community itself is split down the line. on one hand, you have people who go stark raving mad about the world being warm and what not, and on the other hand you have another group of people who go that this is a normal temperature cycling phenomena, and we shouldn't get our panties knotted up in a bunch over something like that.
and as much as you think that Al Gore is pulling a "something from nothing" argument, I do agree with one of his rhetoric. and that is "Pascal's Wager", in which it assumes that SHOULD global warming be really true, the efforts taken to clean the world up will ultimately safe our lives and our livelihood. if it turns out that global warming isn't true, and that it was all a bunch of hogwash, who stands to benefit? the companies who came up with the ideas of being green and what not, and the end user in the end. because even if it turns out to be a farce, we end up cleaning our own place up anyway.
it's sorta like making your bed in the morning before going to work. you do it because you think it's neat, or because you've been bugged to do it by the missus. but ultimately, a neater bed does present a neater bedroom/environment, and ultimately a more positive psychological impression on yourself at the end of the weary day. win/win situation for both parties (assuming you got pressured by the missus that is).
AH I am not advocating doing nothing. I go green for pollution sake. I do things that has an effect to my life, my generation and not speculate on something in advance that will or will not happen by then what Al Gore or others like him who reap to benefit from their true or not true theories ( and really this is what scientific findings are all about ) they would have enjoy what sucker punch they throw us and benefit them and their children by then...they would have died and be long gone before your future generation can hold them accountable.
If you take a look at the world around you, there are so many things we could be doing to help ourselves today and indirectly it does have a cooling or warming effect to countering any future problem we might have....that is caused by us!. But if this is something that happens to mother earth every billion years which scientist actually have...the ice age or the day of fire will come and we will all be gone but good news is...mother nature will still be around to host a total new life form. Life is about recycling not just the bottles, cardboard..etc.... even our existence. Let's hope that day come due to nature and not man made. By pollution or by war. We better choose carefully.
Anyone can pluck something witty to say. Al Gore the politician is no difference. Pay enough or research enough and some one can be your wordsmith to coin you something logical to tell the world. Politician has speech writers you know that right? There is another famous saying that I like too. "there's one born every day" I do my part to recycle and I try to encourage everyone to be same. And I don't own a private jet to go jet about to tell others to mind their carbon footprint either. heheh....
But hey...that's just me. Remember now...recycle reuse renew....for our children sake. We do that for our children, they will look after our future children ...and so on and so on.
