You buy one already it's very self-explanatory... else just do a search... :Ds

BBB, MTL, just buy first talk later.

can the older hard plastic LS be used with ID?

The ID's inverted inwards instead of the round one u have now. Should be able to, the diameter should be the same.

good qn.

i jus tried it and no... the size isn;t the same. the hard plastic one has a larger diameter and the PJ inverted dome simply can't fit in.

It's a conspiracy!!!!

Nevermind, just BBB, MTL, buy first talk later.

Just BBB. MTL.

From what I see in your tests, putting on the dome increases the ratio of frontal direct light to ceiling bounce light, as compared with no dome.

For example, in arbitrary figures, PJ with no dome say gives 9 ceiling and 1 frontal, PJ with dome will give say 8 ceiling and 2 frontal.

You can see this from the increased specular highlights as well as the VERY slight shadow in the PJ+dome picture.

IMO - the effects of the dome is quite subtle, and the light falling on subject is a little softer
compared to no dome. i suspect, on human flesh, the effects are more pronounced.

cheers! :)

good info for those into serious studio lighting.

me? i just use it...

Hehe, the numbers are arbitrary and may not even be proportionally arbitrary, its just to illustrate the point I was making on the type of light with and without the dome.

the inverted dome can come in handy if you are shooting wedding and during break need a bowl for longan toufu:bsmilie: DONT leave it on the table also cos others may just use it and throw the 'bowl' away. Also, the dome dont seem to fit very securely on the LS.

i just got one. tried shooting w it pointing up and w/o it on a sb800. frankly the exposure are so close that its hard to tell. its only when used w a subj near wall then you can see from the softer shadow on the wall.

sorry, dunno how to resize the picture...but can tell that the flash exp are rather similar

bro surge,
just want to find out if u used the LS and compared it against the bounce & white card combination of the SB800. (Taking into consideration of setting a shutter speed of abt 1/30 to 1/45 & aperture f5 and a higher asa to compensation for the background)?

Thanks

think they are very very close in terms of exposure. distance about 30cm, ISO800

1/40, f5 for bounce

1/50, f5 for PJ

May I know the setting you use on your flash? Do you set it to manual or just leave it on iTTL BL with rear sync?

BTW I used the LS2PJ with diffuser during Chingay and I'm quite happy with the results.
