Ermm... You just need to go to the sticky thread to know more about this lens.
http://www.clubsnap.com/forums/showthread.php?t=465404

I'm using it and I can tell you it is quite good.
Focusing a bit slow when it is over 200mm under dim lighting lor however, it is accurate and sharp most of the time (without tripod) if you don't mind using 1600ISO and above.

Just go to shops and try it out lor...

:)Hi...I am also tryong to get this lens but the price since little bit high....Around S$920 @ Funan IT mall.
Does anyone know where to get it cheaper? Around S$800+? Thanks.
:)

hi. i'm selling my under-utilised tammy 18-270 VC (canon-mount) in the BnS at $820 neg. other info as follows:

bought the great all-purpose travel lens in april 09 after reading the reviews in the above thread. served me well during my honeymoon to taiwan as i didnt haf to strain my injured back carrying 3 different lenses. besides, i had to reserve strength for nocturnal activities too. hee

anyway, the lens is kept in my dry cabinet most of the time. if not for the minor scuff marks on the hood, i wld haf rated it as a 10. comes with everything in box, hood, 3yr warranty til april 2012 and a $45 hoya 72mm UV(0) filter

u may contact me at 98751660 if interested.

Selling off my 1 week old tamron 18-270 VC (nikon-mount) for $850..
Serious buyer can PM me ......

I used to have a setup of 450D + Tammy 18-270mm, personally feels it is a perfect combination for travelling. It is very usable and at after 200-220mm under low light will be so-so. Don't expect a 24-70mm f2.8 result, :). Overall I have to say it is decent lense and i feels Tammy VC were better than Canon 18-200mm..

i'm planning also to buy the tamron 18-270 mm but my question is does it have a good result or quality if your using canon eos 1000d?

why not?
IMHO, this lens is a worth-for-money, light-weight stuff for travel photog..
i had used it on my D90 thou i sold it out to get a 18-200VRII..
it gave me decent quality outputs, incredible range and very effective image stabilization..
f6.3 on its long end was quite slow for me thou..

I think the results will be decent. It is one of the better all-in-one superzoom lens.

Tamron AF18-270mm/3.5-6.3 Vs EF-S18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS (QUALITY Which one is better?)
Prefer taking photos at night like for example taking picture at fullerton hotel. How about for scenery during day time?

it says: "It stands up well in comparison to both the Nikon 18-200mm F3.5-5.6G ED VR and the Canon EF-S 18-200mm F3.5-5.6 IS; it's softer than the Nikon at wideangle and the Canon at telephoto, but beats both in that mid-range."
quite tempting.. eh? :)

:)

Then get the Tamron 18-250mm, non-vc @half the price in BnS

Using this on a 450D too. Very bad.. makes you a lazy photographer since you pretty much won't have to change lens once it is mounted. :bsmilie:

For travels and general purpose, it is more than enough for the casual shooter. Lightweight, wide to tele applications, really convenient.

Wide.

VC is quite good too. When I went back to my 70-200mm non-IS, I kinda take sometime to get used to the shakes.

Handheld at ISO800 with VC on.

Enough talk. Go get poisoned.

hi! I used to own the Nikkor 18-200mmVRII and later sold it for a Tamron 18-270mm and totally pleased with the switch. Some comparisons below:

1. Tamron gave me much better macro shots i.e. able to get a bigger subject coz of the extra 70mm reach
2. Tamron gave me sharper pics which I think is because of the more capable VC system.
3. Tamron's focussing speed is just a little slower than Nikkor's on bright day light but still considered fast. However, under low light, Tamron's focussing speed is very slow and always hunting and sometimes not able to focus at all. Nikkor's beat Tamron's in this aspect.

So, if u like to shoot at night, i suggest buying the Nikkor's. Otherwise, I prefer the Tamron in terms of picture quality, excellent VC and excellent zoom range.

Yeah... saving up to buy 18-270 after borrowing it from a friend to test it out....

Agreed that at night AF is a tat slow, but intend to compensate this handicap by using fast lens at night instead since u dun really need the telephoto range at nite? e.g. Nikon 35mm F1.8 or tokina 11-16 for street and wide photography.

Yup agree with Shuichi. Nikkor's 18-200 has better AF than Tamron's in low light, but still not as good as a prime. With Nikkor's 18-200, you also cant shoot sharp handheld pics at night, so the best is get a prime for night.

I understand that this lens is also labelled as "MACRO" did anyone of you try to use it for macro photos? How is the IQ for macro and what is the magnification ration like? :)
