= Stefan's Weekly Singapore City/Landscapes II =

typo eh? pasir panjang?

LOL. Thanks. Always got those two mixed up. :(

Hi stefan,

If you dont mind. I think you can host a workshop about your craft. So can share the great technique that you have in landscape photography. Im your biggest fan and will be first to be on the list.

Anyone agree? Hope it can come to a reality

Jakedgreatz

Hahaha, well I appreciate your suggestions and your support, but I feel I'm not at all ready to teach yet. I find my works still need alot of improvement and change before I can teach. I always believe one must fully be a master of his own course can only prove his worth to teach. :bsmilie: Weird la, but that's just my thinking. :) There are alot of photogs here waaay better me and I think they deserve to share their craft too!

Anyway if you need any help or any suggestions, feel free to ask here or PM me! :D I'm always happy to answer your queries! :)

Rise Of The Monoliths

3 Image HDR/DRI 12 image panorama using GND 0.9 soft. Toa Payoh Estates, Singapore.

These coming weeks, I will be focusing on HDB exploration.

A quick Google Earth search and rough estimates of the sunrise directions this time of the year with a little bit of exploration of the area gave me some opportunity here. Well I was lucky to see sunrays I guess.

Been buried in paper work for the last few weeks so pardon my absence.

Forever This Way

2 Image HDR/DRI 3 Image panorama using GND 0.9 soft. Toa Payoh Estates, Singapore.

Did some more exploration of Toa Payoh - been there on three separate occasions since last week but the weather was absolutely terrible to get what I wanted. Was lucky to find this day as I live nearby so it's still easy for me to get to work. Toa Payoh has some very nice angles and places to capture. It was surprisingly misty when I got up there, probably from all the rain the night before that caused this.

I'm still experimenting and figuring out ways to fix distortion on the extreme ends while doing panos. In this shot, I hate the slanted and "pulled-effect" distortion of the school on the left. This isn't what we see in reality and should be fixed. I'll just let it pass for now, but till then I'll look around for solutions to correct this.

Something long overdue yet again! :)

Oh and if you look carefully, a new member has joined the group... An L Plate!! It's pretty awesome to use and so much easier!

Using an L-plate is much more stable that tilting the ballhead 90deg and the fear of tipping over the camera when the tilt straddles between the 2 3pod legs. Reduces the need of a vertorama. Good investment. :)

And not just any L-Plate - it's an Acratech L-Plate (I think)! Good investment. ;)

hahah, no worries, I generally attach my 70-200 (which has a mount ring) onto the ballhead itself. :) The L plate is "permanently" mounted onto my camera. Lugging around the tripod with the L plate sticking out especially in MRT/crowded places has hit many people without me knowing it. LOL.

Exactly!! :D And doing so will put alot of stress on the ballhead, loosing its grip over time. That exactly happened to my previous Markins ballhead. Which leads to another change in my arsenal of gears is the ballhead if you guys didn't notice that too! :) hahaha. I'm now using a Markins Q20.

Thousands of years ago somewhere in middle Earth, it was forged from the fires of hell by skilled craftsmen, this Universal L-Plate.... Nah just kidding! Yeah it's the Arcatech universal L plate, but really cost me a bomb to get one of those. :( I looked around for a long time, I initially wanted to get an RSS L plate but no one here seems to sell made for 7D + Battery grip. So this was my only solution.

Thanks guys!!

The Valley

2 Image HDR/DRI 2 image panorama to relief spatial tightness. Toa Payoh Estates, Singapore.

From walking around I've found some nice views from another not too distant block. Will explore more of the area when time and weather permits. The blue hour was great.

Hey Alawn. Nice to see you drop by!! :) Also if you notice, my shooting spree has slowed down as compared to last time. :) Work, studies, I guess life is changing for us... Hey, say sometime next year when the weather's good and the tide's low, we head on down to Tanjong Rimau yeah?

Fantastic! Makes me wanna explore toa payoh when i have more time.

Thanks man, you should while you can!! Peace! :D

The Battle of Evermore

2 Image HDR/DRI 5 image panorama using GND 0.9 soft + GND 0.6 soft for higher tonality of the skies. Ang Mo Kio Estates, Singapore.

I figured over here I might be able to see the sunrise at this time of the year. Well, the weather wasn't at all good, but I was deeply surprised to find sunrays creeping out of the ever battling dark clouds against the light. Will come back here again and try portrait mode panorama instead. Hopefully the weather gets better too.

P.S For all Led Zeppelin fans, you know I listen to them too. :)

Well, been busy yet again. So here's something to keep the thread alive! :D The behind the scenes shot was taken much later after the shooting was completed, as you can see.
