Shot this ant-like Salticidae Jumping Spider, Myrmarachne plataleoides, and the mating pair on 25 Dec.

Strange spider! Must be a X-breed!!! :bsmilie:

The R(A) pics is fine to me.

Cheers

like your flies shot, just wonder what is your distance away from these flies?
lens used?

Nope that spider is not a X-breed. It mimics the appearance of an ant to 1) escape from its predators (spider eaters), and 2) to get close to its prey which includes ants wothout alarming its prey.

I think they are a couple of other theories about why those spiders looked like ants. Any spider experts here?

Interesting shot for #1. I would have preferred a higher DOF, but this shot is quite interesting too as the head is isolated from the body.
The flash reflection from the leave is quite distracting though. Its hard to avoid it, but have to watch the flash direction.
