Well i didn't know where to put this so i guess here goes.

will be getting the tripod tomorrow from TK foto since the stocks just arrived.

Thing is i have tried both at the shop and couldn't come to a conclusion.

I really like the traveller series but i understand that there would be "possible" stability issues with 5 section tripods? and the T 1004X is slightly taller fully extended too.. (i'm 1.85m tall btw so height of tripod does make or break deal)

Help me make a decision =)

hmmm... if you want more mobility, go for the T1005. If you are afraid tt the T1005 is less stable than T1004 then go for T1004. T1005 is quite a lot shorter when you keep it all the way, as compared to T1004.

I'm a user of T1004. :)

yeah i kinda like the 1004x. It made sense to me since lesser moving parts = more stability.

besides i still had to get used to the half turn knobs..lol.. too many very confusing at the beginning!

If you travel frequently, go for the T1005.

Otherwise shooting in local, the T-1004 is more than enough, especially the last legs are thicker which is more stable to an extent compared to the T-1005

If you're planning to use it for travelling, for self portraits and long exposures occasionally, either one is fine.

But if you're planning to use it as a birding or intensive use tripod, you'll get backaches as the max height is 1150mm (T1004) and 1125mm (T1005), consider the R1205 instead with max height of 1310mm or better still, the R2205 at 1350mm

I am using 1004x. I find 1005x the last leg is a little too thin.

And comparing the CF 1204x and 1004x, I find 1004x to be slightly more stable (due to the weight I think).

2204x is a super kick butt tripod. Damn solid! That is, if you have the budget for it.

good to hear the feedbacks guys. i cant justify spending that much on a tripod. better used on a lens personally.

i was comparing it with my velbon sherpa and it is already a huge improvement. both in the size and weight.

i dont need carbon fibre afterall.

will assess the tripods again when im at the shop.

Yep, just got the R2204 as well, am about 1.8m, find the tubes thicker and definitely light as its carbon fibre. Carried it the whole day and no complains, the only complain is i wish my camera was as light..... :p

Walletaches one time only !!! ...backaches is every time you bring the tripod out and use ! :bsmilie:

I've got the R2204 with G20 head, sling around the shoulder whole day also 'boh la'sha !' well worth for the $310 price. Think carefully bro, a tall guy with a short tripod looks like "flooded pants" :sweatsm:

...just messing with ya !
