Sigma 70-300mm F/4-5.6 APO DG Macro opinion needed

PPed? Camera settings? Do you use the optimize image feature?

contrast was obviously up-ed. settings as stated in post. D50 has no optimize image feature.

personally, i think the only really excellent things about these lenses are the focal length, aperture and especially, price. for a fair quality super telephoto lens real cheap, i would recommend this lens
however, if u have enough $$ to spare, i would say the nikon 70-300 f/4-5.6 VR would be nice, and the vr an added touch, towards the 300mm end. picture quality is better and sharper. also heard that the canon 70-300 f/4-5.6 IS is also good.
then again, if you had even more $$$$$$$, there's always the 70-200 f/2.8 IS/VR
