I am planning to get a 70-200mm. I've researched on the following lens and need some advices from those who have experience with the lenses.

1) Canon 70-200 F4 IS,
2) Sigma 70-200 f2.8 EX DG APO OS HSM (darn what a long description) and finally
3) Sigma 70 -200 f2.8 EX DG APO Macro HSM AF

The pull factors of the 3rd options are the f2.8 giving a nice bokeh and its lower price. The con is that it has no OS.

Appreciate any comments on the lenses and the selling price in the market now for a used lens.

I will go for no. 2, f2.8 with OS is useful.

1st of all, are you willing to handle the extra weight (700-800g more than the Canon F4 lenses) involved in a F2.8 lens? :)

if no, then i suggest no. 1.
another factor to consider is resale value of the lens (if you intend to sell it later on due to underutilisation etc)

i can only say, in terms of resale value - go for canon. for practicality, go for sigma 70-200 OS... is up to you :)

I would for Canon for the IQ.

Thanks all. I am still undecided.

grab a monopod for option 3... A F/2.8 can become a F/4 lens but not vice versa. Use the savings for something else.
