Have any forummers in Singapore seen or tried the Sigma 18-250mm OS lens on a D700?

It is a bit new and not many review on the net but it seems it is a much better beast than the Sigma 18-200.

I'm about to buy a D700 - I already have the newish AF-S 50mm 1.4G an I'm prepared to buy the Nikkor 14-24 f2.8 but I can't afford to run to the 24-70 f2.8 and 70-200 f2.8 all in one hit. This Sigma seems like a good walk-about lens to cover most of what I do with the Nikkor 18-200mm VR on my D200 at present.

But I would like to know if it has been seen in the flesh yet.

Best regards,

i find that if you have the 18-200, you can forgo the sigma. go for the 70-200 or 24-70 with your 14-24.

Hi agentxq49,
Many thanks for the link to the Sigma 18-250mm review.
It looks like a pretty good lens to me - as long as it doesn't fall to bits.
The pictures are certainly very acceptable and the price seem right - less than half the cost of the Nikkor 70-200 2.8 VR.
I'm much like some of the posters on the link ..... I hate changing lenses when I'm just walking about and that can clinch it for me.

Many thanks for the info.
