get the 18-200. better and not much more $
It's a 28-200 on most 1.6x crop DSLR.
Sharper than most kit lens, good walk-around lens for travel (18-200 has a longer reach though), focusing is pretty fast but noisy (zee... zee...:bsmilie.
Cheap if getting 2nd hand ;p , paid mine for $320
