I shoot a lot of sunrise/sunset shots and basically use my Sigma 70-300mm f4-5.6. The problem I'm having is that as the scene gets darker, the lens won't take the shot. I can get the shot up to a point but then the shutter won't click. What lens does anyone use or what is the best lens in your opinion? I've got a 50mm f1.7 that I'm going to try. Thanks!

I think it doesn't allow you to click because you are using AF and your lens is unable to focus.

Try to use MF and focus to infinity (if taking landscape) instead. It should work though.

I would suggest instead of your 50mm prime, getting a focal length of less than 20mm for cropped sensor will yield better results for landscape. (not saying that you can't use your 50mm prime though)

Just my 2 cents!

Thanks Linnl71- I do have the Sigma 10-20, I'll try that tonite. I usually shoot in MF, but I just checked the camera and IT IS set on AF, my mistake!
