Hi, does anyone hv any experience of using both the tamron lenses?

I needed a lens to fill the 30-50mm range. Initially wanted to get the 17-50mm after seeing the reviews it has gotten for the sharpness. However the 24-75mm has a 25mm more zoom reach, which might come in handy for me. As the price is similar, Im thinking of getting this instead. However I'm concerned about the sharpness.

Will the 24-75 be as Sharp as the 17-50?
Hope someone can enlighten me. Thanks alot!

hi! I am interested to know this as well. And also wondering whether the focus speed is the same for the 2 lens?

Tamron 24-75 is originally design for film camera, using it on crop sensor, it translate into 35mm to 110mm, may not be wide enough, if this is fine with you.

Tamron 17-50 is specially design for digital camera with crop sensor, it translate into 25mm to 75mm.

the image quality of both lenses should be identical, you should consider which lens has most useful focal length to you instead.

From my experience of using this 2 lenses (never done any serious test), 28-75mm is optically sharper and 17-50mm is faster in term of AF speed

in terms of AF speed, it may depend on cam..and the perception of the user :p
the 28-75(non-motorized) i'm using on D90 is snappier than the 17-50(motorized) i used on my D200..
bokeh at 75mm f2.8 can be nicer than 50mm f2.8, sharpness is about the same, flash exposure is more correct with 28-75(whereas 17-50 is prone to overexposure sometimes)..
most important is to get a sharp copy..difficult to choose
