What I found funny in the TNP article is those supposed gurus teaching pple how to protect themselves, yet we hear stories of the same gurus actually doing the same exploitative acts or even more :P

I had a good laugh over it. Too bad I can't elaborate more in the context of a public forum.

o o o o pm me!

but seriously, the diff papers operate as seperate entity...only thing they do is repost what the other papers post a few days after...wait till WanPao or ShinMeng repost the story...then CS will even kenna more ****..because those 2..really tabloid all the way......

Wait no more ... No need a few days .... Actually on the same day ... one of these papers already posted the article last nite ... same day as TNP ...

lol the chinese paper reporter really earning his pay then :bsmilie:

Honestly something like this was so overdue.

Even the "fashion" shoots that end up with photos on the "portraits and poses" section elicit more responses along the lines of "Woo hoo", "hot model", "sexy outfit" or "WOW upz for the model" rather than any genuine attempt to critique the photo, style, pose, lighting, appropriateness of venue and attire.

I mean is it any wonder that someone was going to eventually take a shoot and "exploit" it to "expose" what they see as a bunch of testosterone fueled guys salivating over a photo with no real interest in the "art" beyond the curve of her buttocks and shape of her legs?

This does not apply to everyone, I am far from a prude, but this has been a trend in the comments, and it does not add evidence to the pile that says "serious hobbyist photographers" rather it adds fuel to the fire that says "dirty lecherous GWC". And really just as it is up to the photographer to ensure the success of a shoot, it is up to us here to ensure the image of photographers is one we are proud of.

funny coz that other thread u started about zoey being underaged sure as hell makes u sound like a prude.

#1 Know fact - Reporters are amongst CS members / users.

So are sales people, office staff, taxi drivers, window cleaners, machinists, teachers, lawyers, police personnel, civil servants, ... so what?

#2 It is everyone's responsibility to look out for it (them / the reporters - I assume)

Not any more or less than to look out for anyone else. Considering others is also known as "being considerate".

#3 If you dont take the necessary action - Are we suppose to alret someone when we realise a suer is a reporter or "brand" them so that the various shoot organisers know who they are and banned them from the shoot in case they report on them?

You only have to hide from journalists if you have something to hide, no?

You only have to hide from journalists if you have something to hide, no?

but what if they're tabloid paparazzi?

*looks at paris and britney :bsmilie:

i think those want to expose more of themselves than hide.. :)

seriously though, there have been many celebrities who have had a very clean, low-key record despite being high profile.

more often than not i would think that the celebrity sometimes does things deliberately; if you read the book paparazzi by peter howe, you'll know what i mean, it's a very interesting diversion read. :)

but what if they're tabloid paparazzi?

And what if you're a vampire? If you were to exclude everyone who has the potential of doing something you don't like, there would be nobody left.

Also not sure why you're bringing in paparazzi. I didn't see anything in the TNP article involving paparazzi.

That article can be described as "unsubstantiated" and "sensational". The usual crap that TNP is known for. Nothing new, move along. Oh and this:

You only have to hide from journalists if you have something to hide, no?

Tickled me silly.

coz tnp is a tabloid ma :bsmilie: and if i was a vampire i'd be sucking your blood! :bsmilie:

Aren't all local newspapers tabloids, anyway? :) Not that the usual level of the forums here is any better ...

Time to get out the mosquito coil.

:bsmilie:true...mosquito coil dun repel vampire la u need garlic! :bsmilie:

I read somewhere that wearing mozzie coils hanging from nipple rings will turn off a vampire too. :bsmilie:

:bsmilie:we now know what some people's fetish is! :bsmilie:

I didn't mean that other post to sound like I was against the Zoey shoot, but rather that the blase attitude some people were just discounting the age of the model as a non-factor in the whole thing. And I believe that to do so is a trifle naive and while such an attitude may be acceptable now it will not be forever. So I feel as photographers we can help the situation or we can hurt it...but just ignoring it is not the answer.
