Sequence Numbering

Can anyone help me with this probelm.

I am taking photos from 2 cameras - D40 and D80
How do I ensure that the numbering system does not clash when I want to store
photos in my computer ?
From what I have seen both cameras are starting as DSC_XXXX so how to avoid storing same number in computer ?

Wish I can help you out bro but I'm facing similiar problem also, and it's something that I think, to my best knowledge, there is no way to overcome this.

So what I did is always to create different folders for different series of photos, this will help to minimise the files stored are in the same numbers, and whenever I touched up through PP, I will always saved them under proper file names, then again 'removing' one number from the potential 'clash' of numbering.

Check if you can change the name of the prefix for your series of camera. I know that the D200 can achieve that.

Remember to do a batch rename first when saving to PC

just store them into different folders, and batch rename one of the DSC_ into D40_, and another into D80_

i use iphoto to arrange by time and export and batch rename
