I removed the neck digitally, so that the head would float in space.
Picture taken with D30, Canon 50mm 1.8, prefocused, self-timer delay. Settings were f8.0, 1/200. Background was a piece of black cloth.
Nikon SB-22s flash was mounted on a slave trigger, which was on a tripod. Positioned to the right side of my head. This was triggered off with a cheap non-dedicated flash mounted on to the D30 (only one pin, no E-TTL preflash). The camera-mounted flash was blocked with exposed film negatives (have never shot slides, so don't have slide film). I do have a PC-sync cord, but I wanted to experiment with wireless triggering.
I'm quite happy with the result.
