With the aid of certain equipment, one can buy a roll of bulk film and load them into cannisters; it may take time and effort but it help to save $$...for example, the cost of loading 1 cannister of Provia 100F is about $4.40 versus getting 1 roll of the shelf @ about $8-9 (not so sure of the pricing as I NEVER bought 1 in my life!)
