Hi All,

I'm considering buying a S2 Pro with the Tokina 28-70mm lens. Has anyone used or is still using this combination? I'd like to hear from you people, the pros and cons, etc.

By the way, also considering a MB-16 to replace the CR123s. Is it a good move?

Thanks!

Depends on what kind of photography you're interested in. As an additional battery pack, it is of course more economical in the long run, but the extra body weight puts me off. The other minor setback about using the MB16 on the S2 is the less-than-perfect fit. It affects the stability of the whole camera body (with MB16 attached) and I wouldn't recommend using it with a tripod.

I have an S2 with Tokina 28-70mm f/2.8 Pro SV.

The lens is fantastic but a bit soft wide at 28mm. For all focal lengths beyond 28, the pictures are sharp and colors are rendered marvelously.

Some samples can be viewed at my gallery:

Bingo on the Tokina lens! Pictures are sharp and color are rich! Good choice of lens, except that it's not AFS. But for that kind of price, you can't possibly ask for more lah. :p
