Rule of Thirds?

Does the rule of thirds have a more "scientific" explanation to it, or is it just simply aesthetics?

Just trying to rationalize "art", to get the left brain to talk to the right brain...

think it is only asthetics ... maybe the brain use to seeing things in center so when a picture is off center the brain pay more atentions to it ??

Personally, I do believe rule of third, but it is not unique and absolute.
