Photographer Jeremy Nicholl has published a fascinating take on the recent copyright infringement settlement reached between Andy Baio and photographer Jay Maisel over the unauthorized use by Baio of a Maisel photo of jazz great Miles Davis. Baio paid Maisel US$32,500 to settle the matter, then posted his account of what happened on the Internet, which prompted a predictable backlash against Maisel from what Nicholl refers to as "freetard revolutionaries" and photo blogger Thomas Hawk. It's a riveting read, as are the many sites linked to in the blog post.
