A trio of memory card makers have announced new CompactFlash cards on the opening day of the Photokina 2008 trade show. Lexar has revved its Professional 133X line to a speed rating of 233X, Pretec has announced 64GB and 100GB cards rated at 233X, plus 32GB and 50GB cards rated at 333X, while SanDisk has bumped the speed and capacity of its Extreme IV line and introduced a 32GB Extreme III.

Beyond their high capacities and performance levels, all SanDisk Extreme III cards are capable of functioning in extreme temperatures, from -13 to 185 degrees Fahrenheit or -25 to 85 degrees Celsius. The cards also carry a lifetime limited warranty. SanDisk Extreme III SDHC 30MB/s Edition cards, which have a Class 6 performance rating, are fully backwards-compatible; working in any camera, card reader or other device that supports SDHC cards.
