Apple has issued a firmware update for the Apple LED Cinema Display 24-inch that's meant to eliminates intermittent screen flickering and/or blackouts when this display is connected to a Thunderbolt-equipped Mac. This problem has plagued several machines here, starting with the iMac 21.5-inch back in May and, more recently, the MacBook Air 11-inch. The solution also seems to be working: no flickering and no blackouts since loading the new display firmware late yesterday (during which time we'd normally have been treated to multiple instances of both).
