Recommended resolution for prints

Would like to know the recommended resolutions for 4R, 5R and 8R?? Will they be different if we were printing from home or from labs??

I noticed that in the scans by some labs we do see a certain amount of significant noise as compared to digicams. Will these noise be reflected in the printed digital shots?? If so at which size will they be obvious?
