Ok, this is the Kingston High-speed USB 2.0 all-in-one reader.

Sold at Active Foto. $21.90 only! (surprise surprise!).

With my Transcend 120X 4GB, i could read/copy about 3-4 files to my HDD per second. It's very visibly faster than all my other USB readers. The last Prolink USB 2.0 is like 1 file per second only. (and it costed 29 bucks!).

So don't need to buy the Lexar Firewire already. =) $40 @ Alan Photo. Besides USB is more common and can be used by my notebooks and PCs.

Will time later with read as well as write.

Transcend 120X.

Write speed.
796MB, 139 sec. 5.7MB/s

Rebooted, used another set of data.

Read speed
622MB, 39 sec. 15.9MB/s

So I guess there is still life in USB 2.0 card readers compared to Firewire. :D And this cheap reader puts all those $39 expensive ones to shame.

cool.

i havent even gotten round to getting a card reader. just cam and wire:embrass:

i know which one to buy now ^^

Just to ask, how you do bench the transfer speeds?

Is there any program to use on this?

Thanks for sharing :) , was looking at one CF card reader.

Funny that Kingston cards are usually slower than other though.

Active Foto is in SLS.

Went to Active Foto 4th floor but no stock.
Was told to go check the 2nd floor and bought 1 piece.
Think left 1 or 2 pieces.
Tried it out and all I can say was FAST!!
faster then my 2 old reader.

BTW, it got no XD card support.

Just got one from Active Foto this evening, grap the last piece, but the boss seem to mention there are more in their store, but need to check.
The transfer speed is fast indeed.

For those looking for fast USB2.0 that can read xD card and xD M type I recommend:

MINI ver2 - multi-slot card reader.

I used many card readers before this one good. So good (to me) that I bought another one for using in the office. Packing say it read 32 types. It is made in Taiwan and believe the manufacturer.

I would stay away from China brand. They promise you the moon and the stars... but ... can't find the xD slot on one card reader. Alamak, another one wiped out all my images from my xD "M" card.

Bought it for $27. Some shops selling $32. Can get it from SLQ.
