I see. Thanks alot for enlightening me on this..:D Was previously using a digital compact and have only used the built-in macro mode thats why quite blur to this. I think I will go home experiment more tonight.. Thanks again for all the advices guys..

No probs, nightwolf75 have also done some good explanation on macros.

Digital compacts can only give close-ups but not real macros. Some digital compacts can give really good close-ups such as the Canon S2 IS. But of cos due to the tiny CCDs on digital compacts, their depth of field is very great and hence cannot give good background blurring. Dedicated macro lens does the opposite however and also able to control its depth of field extensively.

How about using sigma 70-200 macro. will it be good enough?

Yours is the 70-200mm f/2.8 DG Macro HSM or non macro?

The maximum magnification for the macro one is only 1:3.5 which is still ok but not close enough. I myself use a Tamron 28-300mm XR Macro at 1:2.9 and i still think not close enough.

But for the average user it should suffice, unless you may want to add on close-up filter/s for your 70-200 to increase the magnification range.
